Gone Fishing!

Hello my crafty friends, I hope everyone had a very nice Memorial Day with all your family and friends. Here in Canada our long weekend was last weekend as we all celebrated Victoria Day.  Today I have created a 12X12 layout using the Gone Fishing files from Bear Hugs Arts and Scraps.

This is one of the bears that is included in the set.

This little guy is called a bear hugger which also comes with a sign that says gone fishing. But I decided to place him on top of a frame that was cut from Pooh and Friends cartridge. I cut the frames at 5 inches and 4 inches.

The gone fishing sign is from the Silhouette Store and cut with my Cameo. I am still trying to learn the new machine but, I do find myself still using my Cricut more, but darn it anyway! I will learn it! As my hubby always says...Jenny! Rome wasn't built in a day! Give it a bit of time and you will know it inside and out.
The pictures in this layout were taken in 1977. My Mom and Dad were still alive back then and they both loved to spend their weekends fishing, hunting, camping and just being with the family. Dad was a great man and loved his grandchildren to pieces! and of course Mom was my BFF! And we did everything together. It was a beautiful day in July and my older sister Debby and her family had come up for a visit from Grande Prairie. So a few phone calls later ( one to my baby sister Penny and the other to me) and a little bit of planning we all headed just out side of town to the Moinville Reservoir for a family picnic and a bit of fishing. I cannot believe how young the kids were! My son is now 40 years old. Anyway, I had so much fun making this layout and had so many wonderful memories come flooding back in the process. To me this is what scrap booking is all about. Preserving Family Memories.

I am going to enter this layout in the following challenges
Go Fish - colour challenge use browns, chocolates and bronze
 D.L. Art - anything goes.
As always my friends, thank you for stopping bye and have a great week.

Piglet and Teddy!

Today I have create a Disney card to enter over at Getting Cricky Simple Sunday Challenge. This weeks challenge is All About Disney! I am also going to enter it in a couple other challenges.
This weeks challenge over at Exploring Cricut is for all of us who will admit guilt of buying a cartridge either really cheap or thinking you were going to just dig into it and then leave it on the shelf. Your mission is to get to that shelf and dig out that cartridge that has been sitting neglected and create something for this challenge. So I dug out my Pooh and Friends Font cartridge, blew off the dust and finally create this darling little Piglet card. This is the cut I bought the cartridge for when it first came out many moons ago and I have just got around to making the cut. Yes......... I must say guilty as charged!!!
I added brads to the embossed flowers for the challenge over at Made Especially for you. This weeks challenge- three brads!
Last but not least Cooking with Cricut and Paper Crafting World are celebrating there 2nd bloganniverary and have a challenge called Pink-a-licious- Use your favorite shades of pink and add satin, ribbon, flowers or fabric.( I hope embossed flowers are O.K.)
As always thanks for stopping bye and leaving me some love. Have a great week.

Growing Memories! and Some Exciting News!

Welcome my crafty friends! Today I have another 12X12 layout for you and some exciting news!
I made the Design Team over at Bear Hugs Paper Piecing. I told myself I wasn't go to try out for this, since summer was just around the corner, but I couldn't help myself once I had a look at all the SVG files that were just screaming for me to start creating with. I knew deep down that I would be kicking myself in the butt if I didn't at least try out for it and was just so excited to hear that they wanted me.
If you have not been over to Bear Hugs Paper Piecing, please go over and check them out,  they even have a weekly Freebie just for you.

So for my first project as a Design Team Member I decided to create a layout using the Gardening Thyme SVG file.
This is just part of this great set .
I wanted to play along in a couple of challenges also this week, so first I went over to  Let's Get Sketchy. to see what this weeks sketch was and I knew right away I wanted to play along with them.
 Both sides of the layout

I also wanted to play along with this weeks colour challenge over at I came, I saw, I created.

and last but not least I went over to Welch Creations to see that this weeks challenge is to use at least one SVG or Cricut cut.
I know I went a little bit crazy with the pictures, but I couldn't help it.

So when you put them all together this is what I came up with. I think the layout turned out pretty darn nice, if I say so myself.
Along with the Gardening Thyme SVG from Bear Hugs Paper Piecing I also used the following  Cricut cartridges to create my layout.
Lacy Labels- Photo mat
Graphically Speaking- word "memories"
Baby Steps- word "growing"
Phoo and Friends- clouds.
Hope you enjoyed today's project, as always thanks for your wonderful comments and please come back tomorrow for the Disney Pixar Blog Hop. I just might have some yummy blog candy for one of my lucky followers.

Get Well Card for my Brother in Law.

Just before we were leaving for Vegas in March my brother in law had a bit of health scare. Thank God he is O.K now but it did required a trip to the hospital, a few specialist appointments. That man is on the go twenty four seven and I really don't think he know how to just sit back and relax! Since we were leaving the next day for Vegas , I went down stairs to my scrap room and whipped up a card for him, then sent it out in the mail on the way to the airport. I just wanted to make sure he knew we were thinking of him and wishing him a speedy recovery.

The card is called a gate fold card and you can find the instruction for it over at SplitcoastStampers.
The bird is from Animal Kingdom Cricut Cartridge.
I used some pretty crinkled ribbon that was purchased from My Craft Spot and it just went perfect with the card.
The sentiment was from Bug Bites All Occasion Stamp sent and the poem was found on the Internet.
I found a new challenge blog called my Time To Craft and this weeks challenge is called Happy Healing so I thought this card would be just perfect for it.
So that's my project for today. Hope you have enjoyed it and thanks for leaving me such lovely comments, I do enjoy reading them.

Cherish The Good Times

Today I decided to finally make the second page of a layout I did back in April called Welcome Spring you can check it out here if you would like to see it.

I used my D'vine swirls cuttle bug folder for the clouds and pop up dots here and there for a little extra dimension.

I just love the glitter paper on these layouts.

I added a couple of bug brads.

I used a SVG file from Treasure Box Designs called Swing set using only the Jungle Gym part of it and then added pictures of my grand kids playing at the park behind it.
Cartridges used were
Formal Occasion- Title "Good Times"
Mickey and Friends- Airplane - flipped
Pooh and Friends- Clouds
Walk in my Garden- Tulips
George and Basic Shapes- Circles

Here is a picture of the two pages together, I am just tickled pink with the way they turned out.
As always thanks for stopping bye and leaving all your wonderful comments

Animal Print Pruse Album for Fantabulous Cricut Crawl.

This week over at Fantabulous Cricut they had a fun Cricut Crawl called Save the Earth. This is just like a blog hop but when you are finished hopping their is a challenge for you to join in on. This weeks challenge was to make a project with a recycled item.
I decided to also play along with Creative Kuts project of the week also. This is a fun project which is given each week over on face book. All you have to do is follow Creative Kuts and if you wish to play along, just email them for the free SVG file of the week on Monday and Tuesday and then post your project on their face book page by  Sunday.
I must admit this file gave me a bit of trouble, my brain would not work, no matter what I did I screwed up. Old age is not all it is cracked up to be! But I just kept on trying this and that and then all of a sudden it all came together for me. I still have not finished the inside of the album but I do plan on putting pictures of my granddaughter birthday that just went by. She turned 13 so I thought this would be the perfect gift for a young teen. I used my cricut to make the cuts ( I still have not figured out how to use my new cameo) and lets face it I do love my cricut machine!
This is my Mother Day gift from last year from my daughter Christy_Scrappin. She made me a beautiful 2 page layout with a gift card from Michael's. If you can believe it this is just the wrapping of the gift,  see all that pretty bling and those stunning flowers?  I just couldn't throw these away, so I have reused some of the bling for the this challenge and I still have the flowers for another project. If you would like to check out the two page layout she made me.........here is the link!
So this is my project for this weeks challenge oer at Fantabulous Cricut. Thank you for stopping bye and have a great week.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Happy National Scrap booking day! I really wished I had been able to go to a crop this weekend, but I left it to late and they were all full. I asked my daughter and sister to come over and scrapbook,  but they blew me off! LOL! So I decided this was not going to stop me, I missed all the fun last year and I was not going to miss out this year. So I checked out a few of the blog and found some fun challenges that I am going to play along with.

The first challenge that I did what to play with was The Cuttlebug Spot. Their challenge this week was to use flowers, so I combined this along with the first challenge over at Pumpkin Spice and this is the card I came up with.
Pumpkin Spice challenge # 1
1. Use the color blue
2. Use something round
3.  Must have at least 3 layers or 3 different  papers.
Hope you have enjoyed my card today, now I have to run so I can join in on another challenge.
Oh! Don't forget if you have not left a comment on my 800 follower give away, you still have time. It can be found at the top of my blog!
